Can you believe there isn’t a single filter on this picture?? The first morning of our Colorado vacation, Charlie woke up at 5:45am. (Thanks for nothing time zone change) Rather than throw ourselves a pity party, we brewed some coffee, packed her up, and walked to catch sunrise by the Frisco marina. We were legit the only ones out there, and it was actually quite cold, but God provided us the most magical morning. It is crazy to think that if we stayed in we would have missed this. We even went again the next morning and it wasn’t nearly as beautiful. You just never know when a moment like this is waiting. Moral of the story? Seize the day (and God is so good!)
Here are some more pictures from that morning.
One of my biggest concerns with baby led weaning was how we were going to make it work with Charlie’s daycare. Baby led weaning is a fairly new concept versus the traditional puree route, and it also requires that the caregiver is educated both on the method and appropriate CPR techniques. Charlie has gone full time to a wonderful daycare since she was 4 months old. We didn’t start her on solids until she was 6 months old, but long before then her teachers were eager to give her solids. Our daycare requires parents to send meals at all ages, so this atleast put us in the driver seat for when “solids” would happen. We gave her teachers a high level summary of why we were holding off and explained the method we were going to use. I assured them that I would send food when I was more comfortable with it all. After all, for the first month we just offered one meal a day (dinner) and only started offering breakfast well into month 7.
It is Prime Day-eve. How exciting!! Prime Day is essentially the Amazon equivalent of Black Friday. I was browsing the upcoming deals (because I LOVE DEALS) and saw a bunch of things that we use and LOVE that will be on sale. I wanted to hop on here quick and share. Good Luck! Let me know below if you ended up snagging a deal, or if you find a deal I forgot!
When Charlotte was born, the last thing on my mind was how we would make the transition to solid food. I knew I wanted to make a lot of her food myself, but my thoughts ended there. So when a good friend of mine asked if we were going to do purees or baby led weaning, I was perplexed…. to start with, I had never even heard of “baby led weaning.” Thankfully, Charlotte was only a couple months old at this point, so I had plenty of time to read up on my options.
What is “Baby Led Weaning?” I started my research by reading some blog posts and reaching out to friends on Facebook to get a sense if anyone had experience with this way of introducing solids. I also borrowed the Baby Led Weaning book from a friend and my husband and I both spent time with it. After we both read up this method, we were convinced we wanted to try it with our little lady. I highly encourage getting the book (and the cookbook by the same authors), but here are some other tips and resources to get your started! I will do most posts in the future as we continue our journey.
